Bobath Children's Therapy Centre Wales based in Cardiff, is a registered charity that provides specialist Bobath therapy to over 570 children from all over Wales who have cerebral palsy. We know that there are an estimated 1800 children in Wales with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is caused by damage to a baby or young child’s brain. This affects a child’s ability to move and develop in the normal way and each child is affected differently.
Bobath therapists are state registered physiotherapists, occupational therapists or speech and language therapists, with specialist training and expertise in the treatment of cerebral palsy. Bobath therapists work together combining the three disciplines to deliver this specialist service to children who are referred to us by their consultant paediatricians. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of children in Wales who have cerebral palsy and to deliver world-class Bobath therapy to as many children in Wales as possible. Bobath therapy helps children who have cerebral palsy to achieve their own full potential, explore their world, communicate their needs and so participate and interact as fully as possible in the community around them.
